“Better Health from Better Dialogues and Better Decisions”

The Problem

From genes to mind, every human being is a unique individual. Thanks to progress in medical sciences and technologies, we are getting every day closer to the possibility of a personalized care for every one of us humans.

At the same time, misdiagnosis, wrong treatments, unnecessary surgeries, over prescription of drugs, etc. keep feeding the perception of deterioration of our healthcare systems in developed countries and a growing disenchantment of the population.

A recent article on “skin cancer” in the popular National Geographic magazine (Disney Group), illustrates the situation with a title that simply says: “The doctor said you had cancer. You didn’t.

At the same time, many patients have abandoned their destiny to the decisions taken by their “healthcare system.” Even if, at least in the US, official recommendations promote “patient-centered care”, it is necessary to acknowledge that the patient is mostly viewed as an object of the system and is not really being involved in the decisions to improve its health.

You have the floor!
